As the latest iteration in the GM Multiple Diagnostic Interface line, the MDI 2 offers significantly improved processing power and enhanced security features, thereby delivering faster programming speeds for Global A as well as future Global B vehicles. This ensures that technicians can complete their tasks with greater efficiency and reliability.
The MDI 2 supports various diagnostic applications, including GDS 2, Data Bus Diagnostic Tool, and Tech2Win. It also accommodates Pass-Thru programming applications, specifically TIS2Web–SPS, which allows for real-time updates and software installations. Notably, the MDI 2 has been designed to supersede the original MDI model, which was first released in 2007 for Pass-Thru programming on current models. Its backward compatibility allows it to perform Pass-Thru programming for all vehicles manufactured since 1996, using the J1962 connector through a DLC cable, thus maximizing its utility across a wide range of vehicles.
For connecting the MDI 2 to a PC, users have multiple options: a standalone USB connection or integration with the dealership network via a CAT5 cable.
